Vani Gopalkrishna

M.Arch., MRAIC

Vani Joined Montgomery Sisam in 2022 with experience in landscape design, high-rise, mixed use residential projects, and façade retention and restoration for heritage buildings. Her responsibilities have included preparing architectural and interior drawing sets for different phases, from design development and building permitting through contract documents.

Vani’s approach to design prioritizes the quality of space and the user experience it offers, beginning with a thorough understanding of user needs, the site, its climatic conditions and building context. With this knowledge in hand, she works proactively to identify and respond to different design challenges in a positive, holistic way. Vani was a member of the winning CHEO 1Door4Care pursuit team. She was also a key contributor to several of our Nova Scotia long-term care projects, including the new QCBS, Victoria Haven and Roseway. A versatile designer, her roles and responsibilities to date have been wide ranging, from space planning and schematic drawing to detailing, contract documents and consultant coordination. She always works across scales, looking to align each detail with larger design intentions and project objectives.

Vani is a strong proponent of socially responsible design and positive community-building, particularly the role of public space in urban development. She has a keen interest in data driven design and has previously investigated ideas of individual agency and collective participation in smart cities.

Vani is an intern architect pursuing licensure with the OAA. She is a member of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada and the Toronto Society of Architects. She has a keen interest in learning and knowledge sharing within and beyond the office. She has pursued several certifications to advance her practice, including Point Cloud to BIM with Revit and Data Acquisition and HBIM.
