Reem Abdelaal

Reem joined Montgomery Sisam in 2023 following the completion of her Master of Architecture. She comes to Montgomery Sisam with experience in the early stages of design through contract documents and a strong background in different visualization and digital fabrication methods.

Reem has assumed a range of responsibilities in her practice, working to develop concept design and climate studies for CreateTO projects, supporting coordination efforts and producing contract documents for Amica Islington Village and Children’s Treatment Centre of Chatham-Kent, as well as modelling shell options and assisting in embodied carbon calculations for different structural approaches to the new City of Toronto Long-term Care home at 4610 Finch Avenue East. Reem works diligently to understand the intentions and objectives driving a project and its design and deliver on these intentions and objectives through to implementation.

Reem has a deep interest in multigenerational architecture, age-friendly design, and the ways in which building typologies are changing to support and encourage more positive intergenerational engagement. She brings this interest along with knowledge gleaned from previous research in this area to her work in seniors supportive housing and urban development.

Reem is a register intern architect with the OAA, working towards her licensure. She often serves as a guest critic for architecture design studios at the University of Toronto.
