Construction workers guiding a housing module that is being lifted by a crane

Toronto Mayor, John Tory visits construction site of new modular Supportive Housing building

This week marked the final phase of construction on 11 Macey Avenue, a permanent modular supportive housing project that will provide a dignified and thoughtful response to alleviate homelessness. Mayor Tory visited the site to witness the housing modules being craned into place.

Covid-19 has put immense pressures on the city’s shelter system, prompting HousingTO to accelerate their action plans to provide affordable housing around the city. 11 Macey and its sister site, 150 Harrison, will together deliver 110 self-contained bachelor units for the vulnerable population on a fast-track schedule. While the project is designed for affordability in a short timeline, the modular system is refined to be a symbiotic addition to the urban fabric.
