On Saturday June 3rd the University of Toronto’s Innis College held their Renewal and Expansion Campaign launch, the most ambitious campaign in the College’s history. Project Principals Daniel Ling and Tony Ross were in attendance to celebrate with the Innis College Community. The renewal and expansion, which is set to begin construction in the Fall, will have a transformative impact on the student experience.
Designed to accommodate 2,000 students, a significant growth from its current space for 800, the expansion will house offices, classrooms, an expanded Innis Café and food server, and a new library centre. The renewed courtyard will be surrounded by largely transparent façades, offering ample natural light and engaging views for those in the building. Double height spaces and light wells will encourage interconnectivity. An exposed mass timber structure will provide a warm, inviting, and expressive interior experience, while aligning with sustainability goals. A rooftop terrace will provide students and facility with strong connections to the outdoors and supports improved health and wellness.
