Principal, Robert Davies speaks about architecture’s social impact at the 2019 OAA Conference

Following the theme of this year’s OAA Conference of Empowering Change, the annual event will feature a moderated discussion on architecture’s role in the changing landscape of societal inequalities. Robert Davies will join an illustrious group of thought leaders in the industry to discuss manners in which building professionals can take responsibility for issues such as equity, inclusiveness, diversity, and social justice. Premised on the empowering wave of environmental responsibility that is propelling the industry into the future, the dialogue will investigate the architect’s role in improving social constructs with the same force. The talk will be moderated by the director of Architecture Sans Frontières Québec, Diane Thode.

Robert has been an advocate for architecture as a socially responsible practice since his early beginnings in the field, and imbues his beliefs of the power of social connection into the office culture of Montgomery Sisam through his role as principal. He has worked extensively for not-for-profit public and private agencies with strong social agendas, and has recently been appointed Director of the North American Division of the Awareness Foundation, a UK-based charity promoting faith and peace in order to create more harmonious and tolerant global communities.
