Montgomery Sisam Architects is proud to announce that the University of Toronto Koffler Scientific Reserve in King City has received two distinguished honours at the 2026 AZ Awards: Winner in the Buildings Over 1,000 SQM category and People’s Choice Winner.
Hosted by AZURE magazine, the 16th edition of the AZ Awards Gala took place on May 28, 2026, at St. Lawrence Market North in Toronto. The annual event celebrates excellence in global architecture, landscape architecture, design, interiors, and urban design, recognizing the most innovative and impactful projects from around the world.
The University of Toronto Koffler Scientific Reserve was recognized for its pioneering approach to mass timber construction, elevating the material through novel applications and expressive architectural design. The project demonstrates how sustainable building practices and innovative design can work together to create inspiring spaces that support both research and environmental stewardship.
Receiving both the jury-selected award and the People’s Choice Award is a tremendous honour and reflects the project’s resonance with both industry leaders and the broader design community.
