Montgomery Sisam Architects Begins Work on Milton Courthouse Expansion

We are thrilled to announce that Montgomery Sisam Architects has been awarded the contract to renovate and expand the existing Milton Courthouse for Infrastructure Ontario (IO). Collaborating with Parisian-based firm BELVEDERE ARCHITECTURE, we have begun providing services for the Courthouse User Experience (CUE) Hub Program as part of IO’s comprehensive multi-phase project to modernize the aging building in order to meet the needs of one of the fastest-growing regions in Canada.

The CUE Hub Program involves the construction of a roughly 22,000-square-foot addition that will contain a new main entrance and lobby for the building, including a security screening area, information kiosk, and café; a new jury assembly suite; amenities and support services for police and building staff; and complementary service spaces. The project also includes the renovation of the existing holding areas, upgrades to the existing security systems, a new wayfinding and signage strategy, and updates to the exterior landscaping.

The CUE Hub Program is the second phase of IO’s refresh of the Milton Courthouse, the first phase of which is currently being undertaken by others with upgrades to the existing HVAC systems, replacement of the exterior windows, and minor program renovations within the existing building. The future third phase will include another building expansion, and so part of the CUE Hub Program is to undergo a master planning exercise to ensure compatibility with ongoing and future work. Belvedere Architecture’s expertise will contribute greatly on this master planning exercise, ensuring a cohesive and functional plan is developed for a seamless transition between subsequent phases.

Building on our extensive expertise in courthouse design, Montgomery Sisam is excited to begin collaborating with IO, Belvedere, and the consultant team to help bring this ambitious vision for the Milton Courthouse to life.
