Mount Sinai Centre for Fertility and Reproductive Health

The Mount Sinai Hospital Centre for Fertility and Reproductive Health is an interior renovation project that provides a comforting and supportive environment for clients and a state-of-the-art reproductive lab for the hospital.

The 14,000 square-foot Centre completely retrofits the 7th floor of an existing office building in downtown Toronto. It accommodates the functional requirement for clinical services, laboratory spaces, administration offices, and educational resources.

The inviting hospitality of the lobby waiting area sets the tone for the entire clinic, which features warm materials and a cheerful colour palette, as well as a calming use of non-institutional lighting strategies throughout the facility. The reception zone welcomes new and returning clients in a tranquil environment, framed by a thirty-five-foot art screen wall. This art wall with its photographic plant motif on film, transmits diffused, borrowed light that further enhances the sense of place, quells anxiety, and reduces stress for clients and their partners.

The clinical environment is composed of examination rooms, ultrasound rooms and doctor’s offices that support the teaching and research mandate of the clinic. Featuring a state-of-the-art Embryology Lab, The 4,000 square-foot lab space supports the discrete male collection rooms and female clinical procedure rooms that offer clients some of the highest in-vitro fertilization success outcomes in Toronto. The flexible education space is designed to service and accommodate staff seminars, client orientation, conferences, and clinic receptions.
