Tommy Thompson Park Pavilions wins a 2014 Ontario Association of Architects (OAA) Award for Design Excellence!

We are honoured and excited to announce that our design of the Tommy Thompson Park Pavilions has been awarded a 2014 OAA Award for Design Excellence.

The Tommy Thompson Park Pavilions provide unique urban wilderness in downtown Toronto.  In order to achieve a fine balance between habitat preservation and public use, all four structures are minimalist in both materials and systems, designed to withstand the harsh elements with little maintenance.

The unique infrastructure project was selected from over 170 submissions, and was judged on a specific set of criteria:

  • Context – the contribution a project makes to its location, to neighbouring uses and to community belonging;
  • Sustainability – the contribution the project makes to a sustainable environment;
  • Good Design/Good Business – the degree to which the project creatively supports and interprets the business and architectural goals of the client through programming and design; and
  • Legacy – the contribution of the project in establishing a new benchmark for architectural excellence.
