Montgomery Sisam staff tour the new Kipling Acres Long Term Care Home

Kipling Acres Tour

On Friday, March 7, staff at Montgomery Sisam paid a visit to the new Kipling Acres Long Term Care Home in Etobicoke as part of the firm’s ongoing professional development program.  The tour allows the Design Team to share valuable lessons learned with their peers regarding the creation of fantastic spaces for seniors.

Phase 1 of Kipling Acres consists of a new three-storey building housing 192 beds, which will replace the existing 337-unit facility, operated by the City of Toronto Long Term Care Homes & Services Division.  Phase 1 will offer a wide variety of seniors’ living options, including independent living, assisted living, and long term care units.

Upon entering the facility, a spacious lobby with a beautiful, living “green” wall welcomes visitors and instills a sense of vibrancy and well-being.  The main floor also features a reception desk and a new gift shop – both will serve as key landmarks and places for interaction.  Among the many amenities, a spa centre is located on the third floor, and a large activity room / worship space is in a prominent location on the second floor.  Individual suites feature large windows with lots of natural light, and “memory boxes” where residents can proudly display precious items that provide a visual cue to identify their room. With ample space for dining, recreational and shared activities, the Kipling Acres offers a warm, inviting place for residents to call home.

Montgomery Sisam is currently developing Phase 2 of Kipling Acres which will provide 145 additional beds for seniors in the community.
