The Fort York Pedestrian Bridge and the Printing Factory Lofts are recognized by the City of Toronto Urban Design Awards

The City of Toronto Urban Design Awards are held every other year to recognize the contributions of designers and developers who create great urban spaces.

This year a jury of independent design professionals recognized Montgomery Sisam’s scheme for the Fort York Pedestrian Bridge with an Award of Excellence under the Visions and Master Plans category.

The jury “lauded the concept for its graceful arcs and meandering form, which are meant to evoke the serpentine path of Garrison Creek”.  The jury attributes the success of the scheme to the use of “innovative shapes and forms to entice pedestrians and cyclists to cross a wide and, for some, forbidding expanse of track”.

The Printing Factory Lofts was also recognized with an Honourable Mention in the Private Buildings in Context- Mid-Rise category.

The Fort York Pedestrian Bridge design was developed in association with Aecom Canada.

The Printing Factory Lofts was completed in joint venture with Chandler Graham Architects.
